Christine Fenning joined Mokoro in October 2016 and is now a Principal Researcher, based in Oxford. She has worked as an evaluator and research coordinator on numerous Mokoro assignments including large-scale multi-country studies. Clients have included WFP, the EU, DFID (now FCDO), and UNICEF and her country experience includes South Sudan, Bangladesh, Botswana, Guatemala, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Nepal, Tanzania and Zimbabwe. Christine has strong analytical skills, extensive experience working with qualitative and quantitative research methods and tools, as well as a strong understanding of evaluation methods and techniques.
Christine’s background in sociolinguistics and education had originally led her to become a language teacher before completing a post-graduate degree in International Relations. From 2011 she has worked in the Humanitarian / Development sector, with a number of years in South Sudan, in roles focusing on reporting, information management, conflict-sensitive programming, programme management and donor/partner relations. Christine’s retains a strong interest in the field of education generally, and in education in humanitarian settings in particular.
She often balances the key role of coordinating complex multi-national, geographically dispersed research teams with her role as evaluator and researcher. She has recently worked on a series of complex global evaluations and studies, including the Assessment of the level of integration of national and sectoral policies and plans on ending child marriage in government budgets of six African countries (UNICEF); the Joint Evaluation of Collaboration among the UN Rome-Based Agencies; WFP Strategic Evaluation of School Feeding Contribution to the Sustainable Development Goals; and the Evaluation of UNICEF Contribution to Education in Humanitarian Settings. Christine has also been a key organiser of several Mokoro seminars.
