Assistance to the Botswana National Development Plan

2007
World Bank for donor group, Botswana

The Government of Botswana guides the socio-economic development of the country through six-year National Development Plans (NDP). In 2007, the government prepared the 10th NDP which began 2007/2008. The NDPs are major statements of government policies and strategies, incorporating quantitative targets for resource allocation.

Mokoro provided two consultants, Ray Purcell and Charles Harvey, to assist the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning (MFDP) in the preparation of the Tenth National Development Plan (NDP10). This covers macroeconomic policy and strategic planning, and sectoral planning.

The consultants also built capacity in the Macroeconomic Planning Section by establishing processes and systems for effective management of the economy. This involved providing guidance for Section staff on delivering their mandate of advising Government on macroeconomic management issues and other related matters.
