The main paper of Chris Tanner’s presentation at the recent World Bank Conference on Land and Poverty is now available. The presentation was entitled ‘Legal Empowerment and Access to Justice as Instruments for Good Land Governance’ and was co-written with Marianna Bicchieri and Margret Vidar.

Mokoro Principal Consultant and Land Tenure and Gender Specialist, Elizabeth Daley, has written a chapter with Clara Park titled ‘Gender, Land and Agricultural Investments in Lao PDR’, in the recently-published book, ‘Global Trends in Land Tenure Reform: Gender Impacts’, edited by Caroline Archambault and Annelies Zoomers. It is chapter 13 and the book can be purchased here.

Mokoro Principal Consultant, Martin Adams, has published a paper ‘The Vagaries of consulting on Land Policy and Land Law Reform in Africa 1994-2006’. The paper describes the work of the late Patrick McAuslan, international legal adviser on land. The author hopes that the principles and standards Patrick McAuslan set will continue to inspire those who follow him.

Mokoro’s Robin Palmer attended a conference on Land and Law in Edinburgh, where they launched the European Joint Doctorate in Law and Development (EDOLAD). This aims to make a significant contribution to the need for knowledge-driven development policy-making. Robin presented a paper ‘Women’s land rights in Southern and Eastern Africa – still exceptionally difficult terrain’

Two recent evaluations completed by Mokoro teams have now been published on the World Food Programme website. These are: a strategic evaluation on WFP’s use of Pooled Funds for Humanitarian Preparedness and Response (2009-2013) and an evaluation of WFP’s Country Portfolio in Indonesia (2009-2013).
