Evaluation of the Scaling Up Nutrition Movement

2015
SUN Movement Secretariat, Global

In mid-2014, The Scaling Up Nutrition (SUN) Movement Lead Group commissioned an independent comprehensive evaluation of the SUN Movement to assess the value it adds to efforts to scale up nutrition.

Mokoro, in collaboration with Valid International and FEG Consulting, provided a team, led by Stephen Lister, to conduct the evaluation. The evaluation helped examine the Movement’s efficiency, relevance and effectiveness. It looked at its institutional structures, ways of working and decision processes, and assessed the way the Movement is governed and its theory of change. The evaluation results, shared with the SUN Movement for consultation in January 2015, informed a visioning exercise to map a future course for the SUN movement.

Evidence was collected from an extensive literature review and eight country case countries (Bangladesh, Burkina Faso, Ethiopia, Guatemala, Indonesia, Mozambique, Senegal and Tanzania), in addition to over 250 global and country-level interviews, an electronic survey of SUN stakeholders (with 186 respondents), a visit to the SUN secretariat in Geneva, and participation in country network, Lead Group and other SUN meetings by telephone.
