The work and legacy of Robin Palmer in the land rights sector: How can we build on this today?

Monday 3 July 2023

Ashmolean Museum, Oxford

The Mokoro seminar, ‘The work and legacy of Robin Palmer in the land rights sector: How can we build on this today?, took place at the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford on Monday 3rd July 2023.

Mokoro’s summer seminar was held in tribute to the life and work of Robin Palmer who sadly passed away in February 2023.

The seminar looked at Robin’s influence in the land rights sector, the evolutions in the field since the late 1960s and some of the issues that still need to be highlighted and campaigned against in the present day. Our guest speakers shared the influence and support Robin lent them during their careers in different areas of the land rights sector and explored how we can continue to carry the fight against injustice.

The seminar was a Mokoro first in that it was a hybrid event attended by 20 participants online in addition to the 40 guests at the Ashmolean. Chaired by Mokoro Principal Consultant Elizabeth Daley, contributions were made virtually and in person by speakers from across the world.

A full write-up of the seminar is available here.
