This first-ever documentary video from the Rights and Resources Initiative was made under the Skoll Foundation’s Africa Solutions Story Telling Project. The video is just under 5 minutes long and features the case of the Maasai pastoralist community of the Maji Moto Group Ranch in Kenya, who have successfully challenged land grabbing on their lands through the formal legal and governance system. The video will be inspiring to the many other pastoralist communities who are fighting to retain control of their ancestral lands against government policies and commercial interests. The video features the work of local community organisation, ILEPA, which means ‘take action’ or ‘exercise your agency’ in the local language.
