This 18-page lessons learned paper from USAID’s Integrated Land and Resource Governance project draws conclusions from two years of experience with integrating gender equality and social inclusion into customary land documentation processes in Malawi. It sets out ten key lessons learned, none of which will come as a surprise to those familiar with issues around gender and land governance. However, what this paper adds is useful illustration of each lesson in turn with reference to the work done in Malawi. It will be of value to anyone working on these issues in Malawi for the contextual referencing and relevance.
