Meeting the health MDGs in Cambodia and Tajikistan

2004
HLSP, Multi country

The United Nations Millennium Development Goals are eight goals that all 191 UN member states have agreed to try to achieve by the year 2015. The MDGs are inter-dependent and all influence health, focusing particularly on child and maternal health as well as combatting HIV/AIDS and malaria in developing countries.

Mokoro associate consultant, Mary Betley, carried out an assessment of the likelihood of Cambodia and Tajikistan meeting the Health Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). These countries were two case studies which fed into a larger multi-donor study for the High Level Forum which looked at the issues surrounding the alignment of Government strategy-setting, planning/budgeting and donor support processes with the MDGs.
