Technical Assistance on Gender and Land in Asia and the Pacific

2024
FAO, Multi-country

Mokoro supplied technical assistance on gender and land, focused on enhancing internal capacities at FAO (Food and Agriculture Organisation) – RAP (Regional office for Asia and the Pacific) and in FAO country offices in Asia and the Pacific. The assignment primarily focused on three countries (Mongolia, Timor-Leste and Viet Nam), producing a background profile on gender and land issues for each, which was then used to inform an online dialogue. In Mongolia this was with FAO and external stakeholders and gathered insights and perspectives from different groups. In Timor-Leste and Viet Nam, the dialogues were internal within FAO only. A final document for each country was then developed out of the background profile, with conclusions from the discussions at the dialogue providing the basis of options and recommendations for the respective FAO country office.

In addition to the above three countries, the Mokoro team drafted a case study about the outcomes of an FAO project in Pakistan using reports and material provided by FAO. This study is being used by FAO in a published collection of country studies (managed separately by FAO) that identify important lessons learned from successful FAO projects that can be replicated at country, regional and global levels.
