A large Mokoro team, including partner personnel from The Policy Practice and The Food Economy Group (FEG), conducted this assignment to support governments of five Eastern Caribbean Area countries to implement redistributive social and budget policies, in order to reduce child poverty. The team developed a combined national political economy analysis, and a fiscal space profile for Antigua and Barbuda, British Virgin Islands, Grenada, St Kitts and Nevis, Trinidad and Tobago. The fiscal space analysis produced comparative scenarios for fiscal space projection, based on the sources identified by the Budget Briefs (previously developed by Mokoro). Based on these scenarios, Mokoro produced a projection model that captured the likely fiscal space generated over a period of five years and over the longer-term horizon. The political economy analysis built upon the Budget Briefs and on macro-level analysis. Mokoro conducted a sector-level analysis across three selected priority sectors for children in each of the countries. It identified challenges and opportunities in each sector, as well as the key policy and decision makers and the constraints faced by them.
