Chris Tanner, one of Mokoro’s land experts, will be attending the Annual World Bank Conference on Land and Poverty in March. He will be presenting a paper titled ’Legal Empowerment and Access to Justice as Instruments for Good Land Governance’, which he wrote with Marianna Bicchiere and Margret Bidar from FAO.

Mokoro Principal Consultant and Land Tenure and Gender Specialist, Elizabeth Daley, has written a chapter with Clara Park titled ‘Gender, Land and Agricultural Investments in Lao PDR’, in the recently-published book, ‘Global Trends in Land Tenure Reform: Gender Impacts’, edited by Caroline Archambault and Annelies Zoomers. It is chapter 13 and the book can be purchased here.

Mokoro Principal Consultant, Martin Adams, has published a paper ‘The Vagaries of consulting on Land Policy and Land Law Reform in Africa 1994-2006’. The paper describes the work of the late Patrick McAuslan, international legal adviser on land. The author hopes that the principles and standards Patrick McAuslan set will continue to inspire those who follow him.

Mokoro’s Robin Palmer attended a conference on Land and Law in Edinburgh, where they launched the European Joint Doctorate in Law and Development (EDOLAD). This aims to make a significant contribution to the need for knowledge-driven development policy-making. Robin presented a paper ‘Women’s land rights in Southern and Eastern Africa – still exceptionally difficult terrain’

Two recent evaluations completed by Mokoro teams have now been published on the World Food Programme website. These are: a strategic evaluation on WFP’s use of Pooled Funds for Humanitarian Preparedness and Response (2009-2013) and an evaluation of WFP’s Country Portfolio in Indonesia (2009-2013).

Alta Folscher and Stephen Lister, two of Mokoro’s Principal Consultants, have added their signatories to a submission by a group of PFM experts calling on the PEFA Secretariat to do more to regulate the misuse of its indicator framework. More information can be found here.

The Scaling Up Nutrition Movement Independent Comprehensive Evaluation Interim Report is now available on the Scaling Up Nutrition website. The Interim Progress Report was submitted to the Lead Group for discussion at the sixth SUN Lead Group meeting held in New York on 23 November 2014. The evaluation team is now completing the final country visits. The eight country case studies are pivotal to the evaluation.
