Ethiopian rural communities: where are they heading?

Friday 11 January 2013

Since 2009 a Mokoro team have been revisiting twenty rural Ethiopian villages that some of them had visited for the first time in 1995 as part of the WIDE research project. This case-based, longitudinal looks at the broad modernisation processes and outcomes in each community and documents how government and donor development interventions have interacted with these. On 11 January Mokoro’s Principal Consultants Becky Carter and Catherine Dom, members of the WIDE 3 team, presented insights arising from the current stage reached in the research to offer hypotheses about where these ’exemplar’ communities – and other similar communities in Ethiopia – might be heading.
